SOLAR SCHOOLS FOR SOUTHLAND STUDENTS
(Santa Monica, CA) – September 2, 2010 – Global Green USA and the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District celebrated last night’s board passage of the School District’s decision to adopt a plan for installing solar panels on nine elementary schools that will generate nearly two-thirds of all the power needs for the schools, save the district $2.8 million - $5.1 million dollars and reduce 24,000 tons of CO2 emissions over the next twenty five years.

Copenhagen, Denmark/Youngstown, Ohio – Today in Copenhagen, while world leaders meet to craft plans to combat global warming, an iconic American Rust Belt city and a bold U.S. environmental nonprofit announced a partnership to advance sustainable, ‘green’ city goals.
U.S. Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-17), Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams, and Global Green USA CEO and President Matt Petersen announced that this innovative partnership will initiate a climate and neighborhood sustainability action plan to create green jobs and sustainable development in Youngstown, Ohio. Ryan and Petersen were in Copenhagen and Williams in Youngstown, to make the announcement. By building on the successful Youngstown 2010 planning process and implementing a citywide and neighborhood-specific ‘greening’ plan, Youngstown can become a model ‘green’ city for the rest of the Midwest. The goals of this initiative include generating resources and national participation in a design competition for envisioning the future of one of Youngstown’s neighborhoods.

The bill, sponsored by Global Green USA and authored by Assembly Member Nancy Skinner (D- Berkeley), will require the California Energy Commission (CEC) to develop a comprehensive energy efficiency program for all existing residential and commercial buildings.

The ribbon-cutting marked an historic first for Habitat-NYC: This is the largest and greenest multifamily complex ever built by a Habitat affiliate in the nation. These 41 affordable green condominiums are expected to receive LEED Gold certification, one of the highest green building ratings.

Newest Green Affordable Housing Project Drastically Reduces Electricity Bills; Demonstrates Viability of Climate-friendly, Zero Energy Housing
