GLOBAL GREEN USA ANNOUNCES 2009 MILLENNIUM AWARDS HONOREES

Wallis Annenberg, Marc Nathanson, Zem Joaquin and Jeff Skoll will be tributed for their Environmental Achievements at 13th Annual Awards Event on May 30th

Honorees demonstrate successful strategies for tackling current economic and environmental crises as part of the same problem

April 22, 2009Los Angeles, CA – Global Green USA has announced the 2009 Millennium Awards Honorees that will be celebrated at a star-studded fundraising gala for Global Green USA to be held in Santa Monica, California on May 30th. 

“This incredible group of honorees are each leaders in their fields, true pioneers in each their own way,” said Matt Petersen, President and CEO.  “Their transformation and commitment each tell a story of how we can address the environmental and economic crises together head on, and create a truly sustainable future.”

This year’s Millennium Honorees are:

WALLIS ANNENBERG/THE ANNENBERG FOUNDATION
California Environmental Leadership Award: Recognizing her vision and stewardship of the Annenberg Foundation which has supported noteworthy environmental organizations and advanced transformative green projects in Southern California and nationally. Wallis and the Foundation are committed to improving the well-being of the community for generations to come.

MARC NATHANSON
Green Building Environmental Leadership Award: Recognizing Marc’s groundbreaking role as Founder of Falcon Waterfree Technologies, which is advancing sustainability through the built environment by reducing water use, as well as the energy and resulting greenhouse gas emissions from treating and moving water to our buildings.

ZEM JOAQUIN
Founder’s Award: Recognizing the important contributions Zem has made as a Global Green board member, Co-Chair of Global Green’s San Francisco Committee, and founder of Global Green’s successful annual Bay Area fundraiser and eco-fashion event. Zem also leads by example not only in her personal life, but via her business, ecofabulous.com, and through her various contributions as a design and strategy consultant and true evangelist for eco-friendly lifestyle solutions.

JEFF SKOLL
Entertainment Industry Environmental Leadership Award: Recognizing Jeff’s social and environmental leadership, from his film work at Participant Media to his support of social entrepreneurship via the Skoll Foundation to his newly created Skoll Urgent Threats Fund to battle climate change and other critical global challenges. Jeff plays a crucial role in entertainment, philanthropy and business to educate, inspire, and activate millions around the globe.
