Director of Foundation & Individual Giving

Global Green USA is seeking a dynamic Director of Foundation & Individual Giving to join the Development Team. This position will report to the President & CEO, and the COO and work in collaboration with both the Communications and Development teams. This position requires previous Development experience, and the ideal candidate should possess management skills, in addition to focused energy, flexibility and agility. The successful candidate will bring superior communication abilities and the professional maturity to build alliances with external and internal constituencies. The Director of Foundation & Individual Giving will bring leadership, drive, and demonstrated success in expanding donor and member audiences and gift revenue to inspire philanthropy for Global Green USA.

Key Responsibilities:

Foundation and Grants Management: Oversee all aspects of foundation fundraising, including the identification of funding opportunities; formulation, preparation, submission and tracking of grant requests.  Work with Program staff on their funding options to guide them when necessary. Manage Grant Writer/Development Associate to submit grant proposals to generate income; develop and maintain relationships with funders; oversee the evaluation process to ensure compliance with funder’s requirements and assist Grant Writer in process from concept, LOI, to full proposal.

  • Collaborate with CEO and Directors to facilitate the development of fundable programs
  • Manage Grant Writer/Development Associate in direct solicitation of government, public and private grants and maintaining an accurate Grants Calendar, scheduling and tracking
  • Manager Grant Writer/Development Associate and Database Administrator to ensure that corporate and foundation gifts are logged in Raiser’s Edge with the intention to manage and service all corporate donors and prospects
  • Ensure that all foundation reports are timely and accurate and manage internal foundation processes and policies
  • Establish and manage ongoing and direct relationship with each foundation and internal contacts responsible for grant making and ensure Program Directors do the same


Individual Donor Management: Oversee all aspects: financial and operating performance of the Individual Giving and Membership program including revenue projections, goal-setting, performance monitoring and program budgeting.

  • Establish annual and monthly Individual Giving and Membership team fundraising goals, team and individual accountability metrics, performance indicators, solicitation timelines and activity goals
  • Develop and sustain suite of management reports on Individual Giving and Membership performance measures, presenting results monthly or more frequently as needed
  • Convene and manage staff team meetings to review financial performance, program implementation, strategic program planning and emerging priorities
  • Prepare multi-year strategic and operational plans for the identification, qualification, engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of high net-worth donors and prospects to meet revenue expectations for GGUSA's  funding priorities; including development of plans to maximize annual commitments of five-figure gifts and multi-year commitments of six- and seven-figure gifts
  • Work with Communications Department to implement effective online and alternative technology fundraising programs
  • Identify, evaluate, cultivate, solicit, and steward existing donors, and rapidly increase pipeline of prospective individual major gift prospects; develop and manage strategic plan for donor servicing/fundraising appeals, including calendar and related correspondence.
  • Manage donor cultivation/servicing lists for President & CEO
  • Prepare and deliver inspiring and motivational presentations for executive leadership, staff, donors and prospective donors
  • Manage the Database Administrator to maximize the Raiser’s Edge database as a tool and ensure it is maximized as a fundraising, membership, communications and in conjunction with Convio as an e-activism tool
  • Ensure donor follow up (i.e., acknowledgement letters and emails, database entries) is current, consistent and continually improving with a focus on donor servicing and cultivation
     

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 3-5+ years experience as part of a nonprofit development team, in a leadership capacity, managing a team of development professionals within a complex, fast-moving environment. Proven track record as a successful grant writer
  • Leadership, strong management, and personal energy to lead a team of motivated professionals to continually surpass goals, overcome obstacles while creating donor and member loyalty
  • Experience with all aspects of individual giving, including capital campaigns, major gifts, planned giving, annual fund, donor recognition programs, direct response and special events
  • Experience with successful online fundraising programs
  • Experience effectively growing membership programs
  • Highly motivated, proactive, collaborative, creative, and results-oriented
  • Superb interpersonal and communication abilities, including excellent writing, verbal, and active listening skills
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain best fundraising and membership practices, engage participation from all levels, and generate excitement, shared purpose, and action
  • Ability to perform under deadlines and changing schedules
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
  • Strong computer skills, PC & MAC proficient preferred.  Microsoft Suite, G-mail calendar, Raisers Edge, Convio
  • Master's Degree desirable; Bachelor's Degree required


Compensation: Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications. Salary range $60,000-70,000. Position includes full benefits package including 401k plan. EOE.
