Build It Back Green Program Video Intern (New Orleans)

The Global Green USA Green Building Resource Center and Office in New Orleans is offering an internship opportunity for the spring of 2010 for students and individuals interested in videography and media production.  The intern will gain practical experience in environmental communication and media, focusing their camera on Global Green’s green building and outreach projects along the Gulf Coast.

This internship is designed for a highly self-motivated and dedicate student who has some interest in/familiarity with social media techniques (camera work, lights, audio, editing). Intern should also have some experience or interest in green building or other environmental topics.  The intern will work at Global Green’s New Orleans office as well as at various project sites around the city.  The goal is to have the intern work with Global Green staff to capture video footage of weatherization projects and community outreach events, and interview staff and community members about the impact Global Green has had on their lives and the city.

Duties:

  • Plan, film and edit video clips highlighting Global Green’s work in order to produce video clips of various lengths for use on web, DVD, and other promotional materials
  • Attend community outreach events, home energy audits, residential weatherizations, neighborhood meetings, etc. to capture footage of Global Green’s work, including resident and staff interviews
  • Provide Global Green with copies of raw footage for future use in marketing materials


Eligibility:

  • Prefer interest in/familiarity with media production techniques (camera work, lights, audio, editing, etc)
  • Prefer interest in nonprofit organizations and/or green building, affordable housing, architecture, ir related environmental issues
  • Students at all levels are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Must have access to video equipment and editing software


Time Commitment:

  • Preferred minimum 4 months, 8 hours weekly; flexible schedule 
  • Internship will begin mid-January 2010
